Hi everyone!
I'm just wondering if you would mind looking at my stats and telling me whether you think I have a chance for a District/Magistrate/State supreme court clerkship: Tier 2 School (i.e., between 50 and 75) 3.25 GPA Secondary journal Published on secondary journal Research assistant/Clinical experience/judicial externship Presently clerking in state trial court in NJ. Thanks! Honesty is appreciated. You won't hurt my feelings. P.S. Which courts are easier to get (i.e., geographically)? |

Maybe. The only way to find out is to try. I think your current clerking experience will definitely give you a boost. I certainly don't think it's out of the question.

It kind of depends where a 3.25 puts you in terms of class rank. But, there's really no way to know until you apply.
Geographic locations with jobs easier to get are those you have a tie to. It's what they all say, but every judge asks "why here?" The judges I've clerked for (3 total) have all said that tie to an area is one of the biggest things for them. They like the mentoring process and seeing former clerks turn into great local attorneys. |
